Resize Lotus Notes Sametime 8.5.1 chat screen

I use tabbed windows for multiple users since I frequently have many chats open and I don’t like to have 4 or 5 individual chat screens. And recently I’ve run into a weird problem even the L2 support desk could not solve immediate. The chat screen does not “remember” its size. If its small, it stay's small after reopening, also after resizing.
Mine was so small that typing was impossible. I called support, but they could not find a solution and there is no option to save chat window state.

Here is the solution (which worked in my case).

For this description I assume you have “tabbed windows for multiple users” enabled in the Lotus Notes configuration.

First disable “tabbed windows for multiple users” in the Lotus Notes configuration.
Go to: File - Preferences - Sametime and click on the “+” sign.
Go to: “Chat Window” en uncheck the “tabbed windows for multiple users
Click “Apply” and “Close

Make sure to close any chat screen open.

Open a new chat session to anyone and resize the window the way you want.
Remember that some horizontal or vertical space will be “eaten” if you enable “tabbed windows for multiple users” later on.

If you resized the screen according to you preferences close it and reopen one to check if it is still OK.

No enable “tabbed windows for multiple users” in the Lotus Notes configuration.
Go to: File - Preferences - Sametime and click on the “+” sign.
Go to: “Chat Window” en check the “tabbed windows for multiple users” and select either horizontal or vertical.
Click “Apply” and “Close

Now your chat screen is resized the way you like it, minus the space required for the tabs.

Have fun..
